英語の勉強、進めていますか。
私はPandemicで海外のニュースに着目して以来、毎日欠かさず英語のニュースを聞くようになりました。
『シンプルな英語』（講談社 新書）でもニュースのYouTube動画について書きましたが、複数社のニュースを朝と夜に気の向くままに聞いています。

特有の米国発音が心地よい。舌を巻く英語らしい発音。

聞き取りやすく、記事のセレクションが面白い。イギリス発音はhereやthereなどから、真似てみたくなる。
また、様々な側面から日本のニュースも取り上げられるため、内容も興味深い。
ニュージーランド：

特有の発音が興味深い。一般の人のインタビューなどはかなり英語が早いが、様々な発音に触れる良い機会となる。
個人的には、Pandemicの間ほぼ毎日対応されていた前首相の発言や行動に着目したり（完全な国の閉鎖対策だったのにコロナ終焉が見えたら突如Harvard大学のスピーチに登場されて驚いたり）、また、キャスターの「Kia ora」というマオリ語の挨拶を興味深く思ったりしていました。
他にも、カナダ、オーストラリアなど、それぞれ特徴があって面白い。
ニュースの英語は勉強効率が良い。早口のため、時短で学べるところが気に入っています。
2、3分で完結する記事も多くあるため、字幕を出してじっくりと味わうのも良い。キャスターになりきって、シャドウイングするのも良い。
ただ、Pandemicを経て、各国が平常時のニュースに戻ると、やはりアメリカのニュースはHurricanesやCrimeも増えてきたので、最近は各社流し聞きよりも、記事を選択して利用することが多くなりました。
まず、仕事柄、サイエンスニュースには随時着目しています。
Rare solar eclipse seen in Western Australia – BBC News（2023年4月）

Now a rare type of solar eclipse has taken place with large crowds gathered in parts of Australia and elsewhere to see the spectacle. The hybrid eclipse as it’s known takes place when some parts of the world experience a total eclipse while (whilst) other parts witness an annular eclipse, the ring of fire around the blacked out area. Our correspondent Phil Mercer is following this for us in Sydney and he’s at the observatory there.
So Phil, what did you see?
Well not much is the simple answer to that here in eastern Australia. Especially in Sydney, it was very cloudy and rainy. So at the moment of totality, we barely saw anything here, but it was a very different story on the other side of the continent. On the Northwestern tip of Western Australia around the town of Exmouth, they, the people there, thousands gathered enjoyed quite possibly the light show of their lives, now just before totality, that is when the moon crosses over in front of the sun to obscure the sun just before that they would have seen a burst of light coming over the moon to give it an appearance of a diamond ring. They would have also seen those with the appropriate equipment ruby red solar flares coming from the sun as well. So this would have been the experience of a lifetime for those thousands of people who have swelled the population of this small coastal town in Western Australia. …

「天気予報」は英語勉強効率がさらに良いことに気付きまして、気に入って、アトランダムに検索して聞いています。技術英語の観点から学べる英単語も悪くない。短い時間でのプレゼン力も素晴らしい。
生の英語に触れると、いつまでも学ぶことがある。
