ニュースの公式YouTubeを使った英語の勉強を「シンプルな英語」（講談社）ではおすすめをしました。
私は色々な国のニュースを聞き比べて楽しんでいます。自分にとって克服したい英語はどれか、そしてどの英語の音が好きか、といったことに応じて、どこの国の英語を使うか決めれば良いと思います。
まずはやはりアメリカとイギリスの英語の違い。
発音はもちろんのこと、言葉使いも結構異なります。
それを学生にも体感いただきました。

まずは動画に出てくる単語をいくつかピックアップ

■そしてはじめにイギリス英語を
特徴的な発音 years of：after years of public controversy

特徴的なアール発音forward：as princess Kako stepped forward to give her old sister a warm hug.
やはりアール発音が気になるdesire, clear: deep desire to make a life together… It was clear that her choice of…
アールの中でもhereは格別：… did not meet the approval of many here.
名詞（widow：未亡人）が動詞のように働き、結果、形容詞（widowed）になる単語：widowed mother
などなど、若干マニックな解説も含めながら、とにかくシャドウイングをしていただきます。
■次にアメリカ英語
冒頭からアメリカらしい英語choose love over the crown： Tonight a marriage that’s breaking up a royal family, Japan’s princess Mako, the eldest daughter of crown prince Tomohito and a niece of the reigning emperor, CHOOSING LOVE OVER THE CROWN.
その後も続く、先の英とは異なる描写sweetheartや動詞使いwed（英では普通にmarry）：
Today, she was wed to her college sweetheart.
次に着目したいのは「口のつながり」具合。イギリスが一つ一つの発音にしっかりイントネーションを入れていたのに対してアメリカは「ならなら～のらのら～（？）」と口がなだらかにつながった発音。どこか「くねくねした印象」すらある。
The couple was first engaged in 2017, but the marriage was delayed following a financial scandal involving the groom’s mother, …
そして描写もやや生々しくもありますが、そこは気にせず淡々とシャドウイング・・・

学生の感想：
イギリス英語をこれまであまり意識していなかったが、アールの発音が予想外に下がったり、という特徴が見られた。
内容を知っているニュースだったので、聞き取りやすかった。
